WHY DOES THE BIBLE HAVE TWO PARTS?

The Bible reveals God’s plan for us. In the Old Testament, we learn of the relationship between God and the descendants of Abraham. “The Old Testament prepares for the New Testament and the New Testament fulfills the Old” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 140). In the New Testament Gospels, Jesus gave new insights into God’s desired relationship with us. The books and letters in the New Testament record the central teachings and beliefs of Jesus’ followers.

"All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture. A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.
